Refresher Course will use a case based approach to provide an overview of useful techniques as well as common errors and means to avoid them when providing emergent care to children.

Dr. Randall P. Flick is the Medical Director, Eugenio Litta Children’s Hospital, Chief Quality Officer of the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center, Chair of Pediatric Anesthesiology and is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics. He received his M.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Flick completed residencies in pediatrics and anesthesiology from Barnes/St. Louis Children’s Hospital (Washington University), and fellowships in Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatric Anesthesiology from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Flick joined the Mayo Clinic in 1995 and currently cares for children in the pediatric operating rooms, on the pediatric pain service and in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. Dr. Flick’s research is focused on the effects of anesthetic agents on the developing brain and is funded by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He serves as the Chair of the FDA Committee on Anesthetic and Life Support Drugs (ALSDAC), is a board member of the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, Vice Chair of the American Society of Anesthesiologist’s Scientific Content Sub-Committee for Pediatrics, past president of the Ronald McDonald House Board of Directors and a Global Advisor to the Board of Americares Foundation. Dr. Flick and his wife Loree have three sons Bryant, Garrett, and Grant.
