A-ACLS: First Response to Circulatory Crisis in the OR – 2020
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) was originally developed as an extension of Basic Life Support (BLS) and focused on the resuscitation of individuals found unresponsive in the field. ACLS has been expanded to include immediate care in the emergency department and patients found unresponsive anywhere in the hospital. A-ACLS was created to address the unique aspects of the perioperative/periprocedural setting. Originally created in 2015, this course has been updated to reflect the changes in the 2017 American Heart Association ACLS Guidelines, and updates to the original A-ACLS guidelines. The course includes multiple scenarios where participants have the opportunity to make "first response" decisions to cardiac situations in the OR.
